Here Goes...
This was in response to a bunch of questions someone messaged me...here comes my views on EVERYTHING, well, a lot of stuff at least.
Politics -
Social Moderate / Financial Conservative, I believe in the serious limitation of government both in terms of spending and reach into the thoughts, minds, actions, and morals of the public. The government's role is to protect the rights of individuals, not limit them.
Education-
Superior education is the fundamental building block of a successful society. Education leads to economic competitiveness, creativity, and the general ability of people to think. Education is absolutely necessary for a democracy to survive and flourish. Uneducated masses are too easily swayed and cause the system to decay. There is no greater investment government can make than in the education of the public.
Abortion -
It is a decision I hope I never have to be involved in making, while I believe it is ultimately a woman's right to choose I believe that any and all other alternatives must be presented to her in order to convince her it is far better to have the child and put it up for adoption, etc, than merely have an abortion. Outlawing abortion has never stopped abortions from happening, merely made them more dangerous.
Gay / Lesbian Relationships -
I do not think the government has any business defining social standards for the public, and people should be able to live however they choose. Reason and introspection should dictate our moral code, not the government. Marriage is defined by society and the individuals that make up society, if they see themselves as married then by all means they are married. By the time you start looking towards the government to 'preserve the sanctity' of anything it is clear that whatever sanctity you want to preserve no longer exists.
Inter-racial Relationships -
There is no reason, save the choice of the parties involved, why members of different races cant have a relationship.
Internet Relationships -
The internet is as legitimate and at least as powerful a social and communication tool as any and the relationships created are very real. It is an innevitable consequence that romances will pop up from relationships between people on the internet.
Religion -
I consider myself a deist. If I had to choose a god or goddess it would be Athena. Everyone has a yearning to understand things greater than themselves. I consider religion a very personal thing, as Julian II said, it is a hard enough for a man through thought and introspection to discover the true nature of things, and once he discovers it, it is impossible for him to teach that truth to another. I believe morality exists without religion and is a related but independent devlopment of society.
Religion & The Government -
The United States is the child of the Enlightenment, it is historical ignorance to think the founding fathers did not believe in strictly enforced seperation of church and state. Government is meant to protect rights and property, not limit the rights of the citizenry. Freedom of religion is incredibly important, and the Government should strive to protect it. But Government has no business legislating morality. Actions by the government should be based on REASON and PHILOSOPHY, not on religious beliefs. It was Jefferson, after all, who wrote "The First Amendment has erected a wall of separation between Church and State." I think this article says it much better than I can
